About the Role:
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support children with special educational needs, including mental health, autism, learning difficulties and behavioural challenges. You will help implement individual learning plans and create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and small group support for students, including behavioural support, while fostering an inclusive environment that supports their social, emotional, and academic development.
* Assist in developing and delivering individualised learning plans and tailored interventions, collaborating with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to ensure student progress and well-being.
* Monitor student progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed, while contributing to the improvement of teaching practices through reflective collaboration.
* Follow individual care and medical plans, including administering medication and assisting with personal care, while promoting independence and ensuring high standards of support.
* Utilise appropriate communication techniques to help students engage fully in activities under the direction of the class teacher.
Requirements:
* A genuine passion for working with special educational needs student
* Experience in a similar role or relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 SEMH Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN qualifications) is preferred.
* Strong understanding of SEMH, with the ability to adapt strategies to meet individual needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
