Children’s Allergy Support Nurse

Are you a motivated and compassionate registered children's nurse looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your specialist skills? We are delighted to offer a 12-month secondment, as an Allergy Assistant Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) within the dynamic and supportive Allergy CNS Team at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
This is a fantastic chance to gain experience in a specialist nursing role within a nationally recognised paediatric allergy service. The role is open to Band 5 registered children's nurses who have completed their NHS preceptorship.
Main duties of the job
As an Assistant Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play an integral part in supporting children and young people with a range of allergies. You will be working closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide expert care, education, and support to patients and their families.

We are seeking a nurse who is:
* Registered Children's Nurse
* Enthusiastic, organised, and eager to learn
* A confident communicator with strong interpersonal and written skills
* Passionate about delivering high-quality, family-centred care
* Ideally experience in paediatric allergy or long-term conditions
* Ideally has access to a car as some clinics take place off-site across Bristol
The Allergy CNS Team is a small but innovative group committed to improving care for children with allergic conditions. You will be supported with induction, supervision, and learning opportunities throughout your secondment. This post also provides a strong foundation for future career progression into specialist nursing roles.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Appropriate post registration experience in nursing speciality /allergy
* Proven commitment and experience, evidence in teaching
* Experience of undertaking research or audit
* Evidence of commitment to research based practice or evidence of project work undertaken
* Experience as preceptor / mentor
Skills and Abilities
* Organisation and management skills
* Teaching
* Ability to work effectively under pressure
* Ability to problem solve
* Flexibility, adaptability to meet needs of a changing service
* Ability to work alone or as part of a team
* Ability to cope with emotional issues presented in the course of work and to support others
* Knowledge of national and local specialty specific issues

Qualifications and Training
* Current NMC Registration
* 1st Degree In nursing or health related subject, willing to undertake/ working towards
* Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
* Qualification / Short course in Allergy management
