Wirral Council is looking for two Active Travel Officers (one full‑time and one full‑time on a term‑time basis) on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract to support the Council’s active travel and sustainability goals.
What the role involves
* Design and deliver targeted programmes and initiatives that promote safer, more sustainable travel.
* Work closely with schools, local communities, businesses and partner organisations.
* Lead on initiatives such as Modeshift STARS accreditation, Clean Air Day, Bike Month and School Streets initiatives.
* Carry out surveys, analyse data and collaborate with stakeholders to tackle barriers to active travel.
* Deliver training and awareness sessions, set up community steering groups and support community engagement events.
Who you are
* Passionate about behaviour change, sustainability and road safety.
* Confident communicator who can engage and inspire a wide range of audiences.
* Organised and proactive, able to manage multiple projects and deliver impactful programmes.
* Collaborative with strong partnership‑working skills and the ability to build relationships across communities and organisations.
* Data‑aware, able to gather insights, evaluate outcomes and shape future initiatives.
* Experience delivering education, training or community programmes, organising events and working directly with the public.
* Experience with active travel, road safety or behaviour change initiatives is advantageous.
