The role
As a Pipefitter, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Day-to-day, you’ll undertake repairs to all plant system pipework on all Royal Navy and other entitled Vessels and, when required, in other sections across the base.
1. Completion of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business
2. Identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance Clyde HM Submarines and Surface Vessels.
3. Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales.
4. Work within all Health & Safety legislation.
Please note that this position involves working in confined spaces and working at height. Candidates must be able to work comfortably and perform tasks in restricted spaces and safely and perform tasks at varying heights.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde, near Helensburgh.
Essential experience of the Pipefitter
5. Production Technical Instructions, Support Documentation, brazing, pipe bending procedures and processes including all relevant acceptance standards.
6. Interpretation of engineering drawings and schematics.
7. Experience within a highly regulated industry is advantageous but not essential.
Qualifications for the Pipefitter
8. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
