We are looking for a self-motivated and proactive individual with the ability to work independently and take initiative, to join our team within Corporate Affairs.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The Information and Data Governance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the organisations compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws in the United Kingdom.

This position involves the development, implementation, and ongoing management of robust data governance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and best practices designed to protect sensitive and personal data. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across departments to promote a culture of data protection, identify and mitigate data-related risks, and ensure that data handling aligns with legal and ethical standards.

In addition, a focus of this team is to maximise the potential of data assets within legislative frameworks, by identifying options and solutions for data sharing that ensures risks are minimised or mitigated entirely

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:-

* Level 3 in informtion security / data protection or a related field
* Experience in conducting privacy impact assessments, data mapping and risk assessments
* Experience of policy review and development
* Indepth knowledge of UK GDPR and other relevant data protection laws and regulations.

HYBRID WORKING

Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
