Overview
We are looking for a Wiring and Mechanical Assembly Technician on a temporary basis to support immediate project requirements. The role will initially last 4-6 weeks, with the possibility of an extension, depending on project needs.
Responsibilities
* Assembly & Fabrication: Build and install complex cable harnesses, wire assemblies, and connectors according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
* Technical Operations: Perform precision tasks including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, lacing, and tinning to industry standards.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure all work complies with IPC-A-610 (acceptability of electronic assemblies) and IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable and wire harness fabrication).
* Testing & Inspection: Carry out continuity checks and functional testing using mustimeters and other testing equipment.
* Collaboration: Liaise with production supervisors and engineering teams to resolve build issues and meet production targets.
Requirements
* Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in electrical wiring, cable assembly, or harness building within a manufacturing and/or maintenance environment.
* Certification: Must hold current and valid IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications.
* Electrical Qualification: A recognized Level 3 electrical qualification or an equivalent apprenticeship-based credential.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading complex wiring diagrams and build instructions, expertise in various crimping and soldering techniques, and a solid understanding of ESD-safe practices.
* Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

* Safety & Compliance: A strong understanding of risk assessments and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) to ensure safe handling of chemicals such as fluxes, cleaners, and adhesives.
* Workplace Excellence: Experience in maintaining a clean and organized work area using 5S methodologies or similar lean manufacturing principles to ensure efficiency and safety.
* Continuous Improvement: Proactive attitude toward identifying potential hazards or process improvements within the workplace.
