Job Description

Requirements
You will have SVQ2 or the ability to undertake training to achieve this award within a specified timeframe. You will also need to be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within the required period.
Responsibilities
You will assist in maintaining service users in their own homes in the community by attending to their assessed personal and social care needs. You will support service users and carers in improving their quality of life.
The Individual
You should have past or present caring experience to a high standard, either through life or work experience. Good written and oral communication skills are essential. You must be able to work both as part of a team and independently, using your initiative. Assessment skills and the ability to understand and meet the needs of people living in the community are required. You should demonstrate sensitivity and understanding when dealing with vulnerable people, maintaining a non-judgemental, caring, pleasant, and professional approach. Reliability and dependability are important.
You will be expected to work a range of shifts, including split shifts, evenings, weekends, and occasional nights. Further study or training may be required. This position is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check before a formal offer of employment is made by Dundee City Council.
