About the role
As a Platform Manager, you will be accountable for the vision,performanceand continuous evolution of a specificsubplatformwithin the Society’s wider enterprise platform ecosystem.You’llensure yoursubplatformdelivers secure, reliable, scalable andcustomerfocusedcapabilities aligned to both organisational strategy and the overarching platform vision set by the Senior Platform Owner.
Acting as thedaytodayleader of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will define and communicate thesubplatformroadmap, manage dependencies, drive strong engineeringpracticesand support sustainable improvements in value,flowand quality. This is a highly influential role that blends strategic direction, operational ownership, leadershipexcellenceand continuous improvement.
What will you be doing?
Platform Vision, Strategy & Roadmap
1. Defining and evolving thesubplatformvision aligned to business strategy and the wider platform direction.
2. Building and communicating roadmaps balancing business value, techevolutionand platform optimisation.
3. Ensuring alignment with other product and platform roadmaps, proactively managing dependencies.
4. Acting as an advocate for the platform,demonstratingoutcomes and impact.
Objectives, Leadership & Team Development
5. Setting andmonitoringclearobjectivesfor thesubplatformteam and contributing to individuals’objectives.
6. Leading, coaching and supporting a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering autonomy and mastery.
7. Ensuring capability grows in line with roadmap needs and future technology evolution.
8. Building a team culture rooted in psychological safety, continuouslearningand high performance.
Delivery, Flow & Value Optimisation
9. Owning thesubplatformbacklog and making informed prioritisation decisions.
10. Ensuring predictable delivery flow and improving deployment frequency, lead time, MTTR and CFR.
11. Removing blockers,maintainingstrong deliverycadenceand safeguarding focus for the team.
12. Driving continuous improvement across value,flowand overall quality.
Operational Performance & Reliability
13. Owning operational KPIs covering reliability, stability,resilienceand security posture.
14. Ensuring compliance with operational frameworks such as ITIL.
15. Managing incident and problem trends, reducing failuredemandand improving service outcomes.
16. Representingthesubplatformduring major incidents and overseeing Business Continuity Plans.
Security, Compliance & Governance
17. Managing and continuously improving the platform’s regulatory, security and compliance posture.
18. Ensuring risk identification, ownership and management istimelyand effective.
19. Supporting audits and ensuring actions are fully delivered.
20. Challenging governance processes to maximise value, flow and quality whilemaintainingstandards.
Stakeholder, Supplier & Community Engagement
21. Communicating platform performance, value,risksand constraints at governance forums.
22. Managing supplier performance and relationships with vendors to ensure quality delivery.
23. Building strong relationships across engineering, architecture, security,operationsand business teams.
24. Representingthe platform externally at events,conferencesor professional communities whereappropriate.

25. Strong leadership capability with experience guiding multidisciplinary engineering teams.
26. Excellentstakeholdermanagementskills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
27. Deep understanding of agile and iterative delivery approaches.
28. Experience managing suppliers and external partners effectively.
29. Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate clearly at all levels.
30. Strong business awareness with a focus on customer and colleague outcomes.
31. Experience leading platform,productor engineering teams in complex environments.
32. Understanding of platform architecture, engineering practices,DevOpsand operational frameworks.
33. Proventrack recordof improving engineering performance through metrics such as DF, LT, MTTR and CFR.
34. Experience managing risk,complianceand audit requirements.
35. Demonstrated ability to shape strategic roadmaps and influence technology direction.
