Locum Social Worker - Children in Care (UASC / Separated Migrant Children)
Location: Bedford – Locum Opportunity.
We are recruiting an experienced Locum Social Worker to join a Children in Care team, supporting children and young people aged 0–18 years, including Separated Migrant Children.
About the Role
You will play a vital role in supporting Looked After Children to achieve safety, stability, and long‑term permanency. Your work will be relationship‑based, outcome‑focused, and will balance statutory responsibilities with strong advocacy for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake care planning and permanence planning
* Support children and young people to improve education, health and emotional wellbeing
* Work closely with partner agencies to deliver integrated, child‑focused support
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children in Local Authority care
* Champion the Parenting Together approach, placing relationships and accountability at the heart of practice
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker (Social Work England registered)
* Experience working with Separated Migrant Children / UASC
* Significant experience working with Looked After Children
* Ability to meet statutory responsibilities and manage complex cases
Highly Desirable
* Confidence in culturally sensitive and trauma‑informed practice
