An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Physiotherapy Assistant & Job Aide to join our busy Musculoskeletal Outpatient Service based at Kingsgate House in the centre of Stockport.
Our Service is a forward-thinking provider of Adult Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy across thirteen clinic sites in Stockport. We receive referrals for acute and chronic conditions from GPs, ESPs and Pain clinic. We have strong links with the acute trust site and the Orthopaedic Assessment Service.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team in a newly created role working 4 days alongside and supporting a Band 6 visually impaired MSK Physiotherapist to safely fulfil their role.
Main duties of the job
This diverse role will involve supporting the physiotherapist to complete assessments and management plans with patients referred to the service within a clinic environment. This will include observing patients in the clinic and assisting with specific assessment and treatment techniques under the direction of the registered practitioner.
The role will also include assisting with admin tasks such as reading, writing, accessing emails and supporting with documentation (electronic and paper).
The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to assist within rehabilitation / exercise classes with other physiotherapists and may assist with collating patient information and monitoring stock levels within the team.

Job responsibilities
* Provide support to a visually impaired Physiotherapist supporting them to independently assess a patient's functional abilities and supporting them with all aspects of reading and writing.
* Under the direction of a qualified registered physiotherapist provide care to patients and implement packages of care.
* Prepare patients for treatment ensuring a safe environment.
* To be able to accurately report back to the physiotherapist any work undertaken.
* Monitor stock and keep up-to-date with documentation i.e. filing and photocopying.
* To assist patient with independent prescribed practice provided by qualified physiotherapists.
* To work alongside physiotherapists / other assistants to run patient activity groups when required.
* To assist physiotherapist in rehabilitation and exercise classes and maintain documentation required for these when required.
* To be required to work alone in line with relevant policies.
If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary.
In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £16.
Education & Qualifications
* GCSE Maths
* Fluency in spoken English
Knowledge
* NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualifications
* Understand the day-to-day role of a Physiotherapy Assistant
* NVQ Level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapy Support
Experience
* Previously worked in Healthcare/Allied Health Professional setting.
