Mechanical Design Engineer role at TipTopJob
Term: Permanent | Location: Wigan | Salary: GBP 35,000 – 45,000 (dependent on experience)
Qualifications
* HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
* At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
* Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
* Proficient in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, etc.
* Experience in automation, SPM, conveyors or other machinery manufacturing environments (ideal)
* Knowledge of a variety of materials: sheet metal, injection moulded plastics, etc.
* Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proficient using MS Office
* Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
* Ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
* Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
* Designing conveyors and other machinery in the automation sector
* Liaising with manufacturing providers
* Involved in final assembly of products
* Creating required documentation for design and project reports / plans
* Updating 3D models and drawings
* Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs
* Checking drawings for sign‑off
* Working in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
