Overview
There are various volunteering opportunities within North Ayrshire. This role is part of Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland's No Life Half Lived strategy, helping people live life to the full after a chest or heart condition, stroke, or Long Covid. Join our Kindness Callers to provide a listening ear to people who have had one of these conditions via a weekly telephone call to reduce isolation and loneliness.
Responsibilities
* Provide weekly telephone support to people affected by chest/heart conditions, stroke, or Long Covid to reduce isolation and loneliness.
* Listen actively, communicate clearly, and demonstrate reliability, patience, and empathy, while respecting the opinions of others and maintaining appropriate boundaries.
* Maintain confidentiality and work independently with guidance and support as needed.
* Volunteer from home (home-based volunteering role).
Qualifications
* Good listening and communication skills.
* Reliable, patient, and empathetic; respectful of others' opinions.
* Ability to work independently with guidance and support.
* Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
* Minimum age: 18.
* PVG disclosure check is required (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).

Availability
* Days: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
* Times: Morning, Afternoon, Evening
Travel expenses
* Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. Discuss with your Line Manager prior to outlay and submit within the prescribed guidelines as detailed in the CHSS Volunteer Expenses Policy.
Support
* All volunteers are supported by their line manager, usually the Kindness Co-ordinator.
* Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland will provide all necessary training under the guidance of the line manager.
* Mandatory training will include: Safeguarding Adults (L2) E-Learning; Roles and Boundaries: CSS; Condition Awareness; Roles and Boundaries: Kindness.
Frequency & commitment
This can be discussed with your volunteer line manager. Volunteers (aged 18-25) taking part in this opportunity are eligible to claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity. Find out more.
