Make a Real Difference in Great Yarmouth – Join Shaw Trust as an Employment Specialist

Do you want a career where you can make a positive impact every single day? At Shaw Trust, we believe everyone deserves the chance to live with dignity and find rewarding work. We’re a social purpose organisation committed to breaking down barriers, challenging inequality, and enabling social mobility.

We don’t just talk about change – we make it happen. By working in partnership with health professionals, employers, and local communities, we help people with mental health support needs move into sustainable employment and improve their wellbeing.

Your Role: Employment Specialist (IPS or Supported Employment)

As an Employment Specialist, you’ll be the bridge to opportunity for people who need support to enter or stay in work. You’ll:

1. Manage a caseload of clients with mental health support needs.
2. Deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) or Supported Employment approach (full training provided).
3. Provide person-centred advice and guidance to help clients achieve their employment goals.
4. Build strong relationships with local employers to create job opportunities.
5. Work towards clear, achievable targets that make a real difference.

This is a community-based role – you’ll spend the majority of your time out and about in Great Yarmouth, meeting clients and employers.

What We’re Looking For

6. Experience supporting people with health conditions, disabilities, or substance misuse needs.
7. Knowledge of IPS or Supported Employment principles (or willingness to learn).
8. Strong one-to-one support skills and ability to build trust.
9. Proven track record of meeting targets and delivering results.
10. Passion for helping people overcome barriers and succeed.

Why Join Shaw Trust?

We value our people as much as our purpose. Here’s what you’ll get:

11. 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), rising to 28 days after 3 years.
12. Option to buy extra holiday.
13. 2 paid volunteering days each year.
14. Enhanced pension scheme and life assurance.
15. Access to professional development, including apprenticeships.
16. A supportive, inclusive culture with employee networks (LGBTQ+, Disability, Women’s Network, Neurodiversity, and more).
17. Health and wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme and health cash plan.

Diversity & Inclusion

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Leader, hold Menopause Friendly Accreditation, and meet the National Equality Standard. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including those with lived experience of disability or social exclusion.
