Technical Lead (Wastewater Training)

Hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Remote, with frequent travel across Kent, Sussex, and Hampshire
Driving Licence: Essential – regular site visits required
About the Role
Are you passionate about developing others and making a real impact in the wastewater industry? We’re looking for a Technical Lead (internally titled Technical Training Delivery Lead – Wastewater) to design and deliver high-quality technical training that ensures our operational teams are skilled, competent, and confident in their roles.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead face-to-face training sessions, both in the classroom and on-site, coach individuals 1:1, and assess technical competence. You’ll also play a key role in shaping and standardising training content, maintaining learning systems, and ensuring our teams meet regulatory expectations.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Deliver engaging and practical technical training sessions
2. Design and develop learning solutions tailored to wastewater operations
3. Conduct assessments and provide 1:1 technical coaching
4. Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure training is relevant and effective
5. Maintain accurate training records and support performance reporting
6. Continuously improve training content and delivery methods
7. Promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all training activities
8. Support the development of our competency tool (Clever Nelly).
What We’re Looking For
Knowledge & Qualifications:
9. Strong understanding of wastewater processes and regulatory requirements
10. Knowledge of health & safety and risk assessment principles
11. Desirable: Level 3 qualification (e.g. AET, Business Coaching) and GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
12. Desirable: PGCE, Assessor Award, or other teaching qualifications.
Skills & Experience:
13. Experience in wastewater operations and technical training delivery
14. Excellent communication and coaching skills (1:1 and group)
15. Ability to simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences
16. Strong planning, prioritisation, and self-management skills
17. Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across teams
18. Willingness to travel regularly across the operational area.
