Closing Date for Application: Thursday 27/11/2025 Year in Industry Placement : Research & Development – Controls Engineer Location: Caerphilly, South Wales Company: Nuaire (part of Genuit Group) Duration: 12 months starting in September 2026. From day one, you’ll be embedded in our R&D team, contributing to the design, testing, and optimisation of cutting-edge products and processes. Expect to get hands-on, ask questions, and help solve real engineering challenges. What You’ll Be Doing Nuaire is a manufacturer of state-of-the art ventilation products and is part of the larger Genuit group of companies. As a responsible market leader, Genuit has an ongoing commitment to provide timely and accurate product information to the industry and its customers. The successful candidate will be part of the team to develop systems and processes to align and control product data. The successful candidate will gain market leading experience in skills highly sought after in the industry: Engineering safe and compliant solutions. Wiring drawing in Autodesk Electrical. Building and testing prototypes and rigs of control systems. Control system characterisation. Designing or drawing control system architecture. Writing description of operations. Creating the points list. Programming firmware and software for PCBs and PLCs. Sourcing and matching components to the control system Optimising energy performance of control systems. Improving on existing control designs and processes. Working collaboratively on project(s) in an agile team. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gain exposure to various aspects of R&D, such as quality control, supply chain management, and production planning Research and development of innovative technology. Participating in hands-on projects and learning opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. If you tick most of these boxes, we’d love to hear from you: You’re currently studying for a B.Eng or M.Eng in Electrical Controls Engineering (or something closely related) You’ve got a solid grasp of engineering principles and concepts, and you’re keen to apply them You’ve dabbled in electromechanical projects, whether through coursework, hobbies, or tinkering with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar You’re comfortable with tools like: Matlab Simulink Control Theory Control system design Electromechanical system design Autodesk Electrical Microsoft Office You’re ready to commit to the full duration of the internship You’re a clear communicator, a team player, and someone who contributes meaningfully to group projects You’ve got the makings of a great problem-solver — analytical, curious, and willing to roll up your sleeves You care about doing things better: optimising designs, improving processes, and building with sustainability in mind You live and breathe the Genuit Group behaviours: We work together, We take ownership, We find a better way.
