There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our East Midlands Division, is looking to recruit an Adoptions Engineer to join the Division’s Technical team.
The Role
The Design & Technical teams are involved in all aspects of housing design and innovation. Our drive for sustainability, value and ever-changing building and environmental legislation means that innovative and unique solutions are required.
The Adoptions Engineer is responsible for the adoption of roads, sewers, pumping stations and public open areas our developments.
The role of Adoptions Engineer reports to the Technical Director.
Principal accountabilities of the Adoptions Engineer role include:
1. Remedial management and supervision of road, sewers, footpath construction and final surfacing works.
2. Ensuring the adoption of roads, sewers, pumping stations and open spaces covered under Section 38 and S278 and Section 102 and 104.
3. Utilise AutoCAD to produce adoption plans for highways, sewers and open space areas.
4. Liaise with local authorities, water companies and the Environment Agency.
5. Prior to legal completion of all new homes, ensure all adoptions standards are met
6. Work within an agreed programme of agreed adoptions.
7. Work in conjunction with our external legal teams to ensure all legal agreements including section agreements and deed of easements are completed in a timely manner
8. Attend/Chair and actively participate in all pre-start meetings, progress site meetings and other meetings as required to review and assess progress and provide constructive and frequent feedback on project performance.
9. Provide on-going technical support and guidance to other internal departments and colleagues to ensure that any remediation works on site are cost effective and on programme.
10. Share knowledge and assist other staff members in carrying out their duties.
11. Link between the technical and construction department on engineering matters.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
12. Experience of working as an Adoptions Engineer within construction/housebuilding.
13. Sound working knowledge of all CAD and other software civil engineering packages
14. Understanding of CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements and Codes of Practice
15. Knowledge of specific design and specification features with regards to road and sewer agreements and maximise value to the Company.
Qualifications and Training
16. HNC/HND in a building related topic
17. CSCS card or equivalent

19. Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards.
20. Strong communication, listening and presentation skills with the ability to be able to build effective working relationships both internally and externally

24. IT literate and the ability to adapt to new systems within the technical environment.
