About the Opportunity:
We are working in partnership with a well-established national law firm to appoint an experienced Employment Legal Director into their growing Birmingham team.
This is a key strategic hire within a highly regarded Employment, Pensions and Immigration practice, advising a diverse portfolio of UK-based clients, including major national employers.
The role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contributing to the continued growth of the practice, while taking ownership of a varied and high-quality caseload.
The Role:
You will manage a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including:
* Advising on the full range of employment law issues including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, discrimination and whistleblowing matters
* Managing and defending Employment Tribunal claims from inception to resolution
* Supporting corporate transactions, including TUPE and employment-related due diligence
* Drafting and advising on senior executive service agreements and related documentation
* Advising on organisational change, restructuring and consultation processes
* Providing strategic, commercially focused advice to clients
* Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers within the team
* Contributing to business development initiatives, including client training and networking
About You:
To be considered for this opportunity, you will:
* Be a qualified solicitor with 10+ years’ PQE in employment law
* Have strong technical expertise across both contentious and advisory matters
* Demonstrate experience managing your own caseload independently
* Ideally have exposure to corporate support work (training can be provided)
* Have experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
* Possess strong communication, organisational and client management skills
* Be commercially minded with a proactive and flexible approach
