THIS POST IS SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO SECONDMENT COVER.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Nurse to join the team for a 12- month secondment .Occupational Health offers a dynamic and challenging work environment. Working as part of a team, the role requires a flexible approach to work, commitment, the ability to prioritise your workload as well as the ability to communicate and work with the wider multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for individuals with good clinical interpersonal and communication skills, who are willing and able to adapt to change and to work individually within their level of competence.
The post holders will be required to work as part of the team of Occupational Health Nurses across all Swansea Bay University Health Board sites.

Main duties of the job

As a registered nurse working in Occupational Health you will be responsible for supporting the team in the provision of services including:

Undertaking routine planned health assessment and surveillance and providing a high standard of care and advice in relation to specific occupational health requirements.

Employment screening, vaccination and phlebotomy.

Advice on Infection control and occupational and lifestyle health matters

Supporting health and wellbeing activities such as health checks / flu vaccination campaign

Health surveillance/ Medicals such as vision screening, lung function screening, audiometry.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

1. Demonstrates evidence based practice
2. Ability to contribute to the clinical governance agenda, including risk management.
3. Able to work under own initiative
4. Awareness of professional issues

Desirable criteria

5. Interest of a particular speciality within occupational health.
6. An understanding of current issues relating to the NHS and occupational health

Essential Experience

Essential criteria

7. Registered Nurse with significant post registration experience
8. Registered with NMC
9. Varied clinical experience including an acute setting
10. Evidence of professional development

Desirable criteria

11. Qualification in Occupational Health
12. Experience of working in occupational health setting
13. Competent in undertaking venepuncture
14. Competent in spirometry, audiometry and Keystone vision testing
15. Health promotion experience
16. Immunisation Experience
