Interim Committee Services Officer – Local Authority – Remote Working
Venn Group are currently working with a Local Authority in South Wales who are looking to recruit a Committee Services Officer on an interim basis for an initial 3-month contract.
Details:
Job Title: Committee Services Officer
Hourly Rate: Up to £33 umbrella per hour (flexible for the right candidate)
Length of Contract: 3 months initially, with strong potential for extension
Working Pattern: Full-time or Part-time considered
Office Attendance: Predominantly remote working
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality committee administration and support to elected Members and senior officers
2. Draft, publish, and distribute agendas, reports, and minutes in line with statutory deadlines
3. Attend and minute meetings of committees and sub-committees, ensuring accurate and timely records
4. Liaise with service departments to ensure accurate reporting and documentation
5. Maintain excellent standards of professional conduct and impartiality in all democratic processes
Preferred Experience:
6. Experience working within a committee or democratic services team in a local authority
7. Strong minute-taking and report-writing skills
8. Familiarity with local authority governance procedures and political environments
9. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines
10. Confident communication and stakeholder management skills
