Overview
Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Glasgow / Flexible
VIQU have partnered with a leading industrial systems integrator at the forefront of digital transformation in energy, renewables, water and manufacturing. This is a permanent role for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with SME-level knowledge across Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, and Network infrastructure—supporting critical OT environments.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement secure OT systems involving Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Virtualisation (VMWare or Hyper-V) and Network infrastructure
* Define system architectures, hardware specs, and network topologies for project delivery
* Lead on documentation including FDS, SDS and test specs
* Conduct FATs (internal and customer), reviews, and QA processes
* Act as a subject matter expert during pre-sales, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement
* Work closely with internal cyber teams to ensure systems are secure by design
Requirements
* 5+ years\' experience with Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, and Switch/Firewall config—preferably in OT or industrial environments
* Strong background in cyber-secure systems delivery (IEC 62443 or similar standards)
* Confident producing technical documentation and leading test phases
* Familiarity with network design (RSTP, PRP, HSR) and communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, etc.)
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when needed
Bonus Experience
* SCADA platform knowledge (COPA-DATA Zenon, Siemens WinCC, PCS7, etc.)
* PLC programming (IEC 61131 languages, Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
* Understanding of Safety Integrity Levels (IEC 61508/61511) and legacy control systems
* Experience with simulation tools (SIMIT, WinMOD) or software-defined networks
