Full‑time, Permanent, Band 7 – Salary £47,810 to £54,710 per annum.
Weekly hours: 37 hours 30 minutes.
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Dental Nurse to support the Dental Matron in the management of dental nurse teams and the delivery of dental nurse education. The successful candidate will have managerial experience within dental nursing and will be able to motivate and inspire teams to deliver clinical and educational excellence.
Responsibilities
* Serve as a highly visible professional lead for Dental Nursing within the Dental Directorate, establishing and maintaining professional standards.
* Directly manage the registered dental nursing team, ensuring effective deployment of staffing resources to meet service needs.
* Act as the focal point for infection control, quality and governance issues within the dental nursing team, liaising with Directorate Clinical Specialty Leads, consultants and Trust‑wide governance processes.
* Facilitate the professional development of registered and apprentice dental nurses.
* Organise and co‑coordinate work‑experience programmes within the Dental Directorate.
Person Specification – Essential
* Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
* Registered Dental Nurse (RDN) with a broad range of clinical, educational and managerial experience.
* Driving licence and access to personal transport.
* Specialist knowledge of RDN clinical practice, educational standards and qualifications.
* Management/leadership experience.
* Effective planning and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication and listening/counselling skills.
* Understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Qualified Dental Nurse Assessor.
* Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Certificate in Further Education or equivalent).
* Teaching/coaching experience.
* Understanding of educational awarding body requirements and contracting processes.
* Budgetary management experience.
