Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a committed and talented Teacher of Health and Social Care. The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner and be enthusiastic about the achievement of students in this subject. The ability to consistently teach inspirational lessons will be supported by our fit for purpose facilities and resources and excellent training and development opportunities on offer. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with staff teams are essential in order to provide the best opportunities for students.

We welcomed three further secondary schools in Derby to the Trust in 2021 and opened Bluecoat Trent Academy, a secondary Free School in Nottingham in September 2021.

The successful candidate will be committed to the students and academy life and will possess the ability to communicate effectively and be able to raise the standards of learning for all of the students with whom they are required to work.

In return, we can offer:

* Archway benefits to include shopping discounts and competitions
* A free and confidential employee assistance programme offering counselling and advice
* Access to Teachers' Pensions scheme

About Bluecoat Wollaton Academy

Bluecoat Wollaton Academy

Sutton Passeys Crescent, Wollaton Park, Nottingham

Nottinghamshire

NG8 1EA

United Kingdom

Bluecoat Wollaton Academy is an exciting and rewarding place to work. Bluecoat Wollaton offers a caring, nurturing and secure environment that enables every member of our academy 'family' to be the best they can be in all that they do. Moreover, our relatively small size is an asset to ensure that all of our students are known as individuals.

Bluecoat Wollaton has a history of very successful exam results and prides itself on providing high quality education to the student population that we serve, no matter their background. All staff are highly valued as part of this and join an organisation that has been serving the pupils of the city for over 300 years.

We have high aspirations for ourselves, our students and the community we serve and our intention is for our students to get into the best universities in the country. We are here to transform their life chances.

Bluecoat Wollaton is a Church of England Academy and is proud of its Christian ethos, and respectful of all faiths. We work closely with the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham but welcome staff and students irrespective of their background and this is seen in its diverse intake. At the heart of Wollaton is the belief that all students are unique and valued by God. Our mission statement sums up what we stand for: 'Believe; in yourself, in others, in God'. Our values of 'hope', 'faith' and 'love' are what the school is built upon and our students enjoy being at school.

In addition to the highest grading at the last SIAMS (Church of England) inspection, in May 2018 the school was also judged as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in all areas, testament to the hard work of staff and students who are passionate about the school and its 'family' approach. It is also a 'World Class School' (January, 2020) given in recognition of both its outcomes and student leadership opportunities with less than 60 secondary schools in the country having obtained this quality mark.

We are truly inclusive and pride ourselves on the diversity of our students and employees that attend and work at our Academy. For instance, Ofsted's Amanda Spielman launched Ofsted's Annual Report citing the school's work in this area of inclusion and ensuring that all learners are valued.

Bluecoat Wollaton - and our wider Multi Academy Trust - are committed to ensuring staff are given full training to develop in their chosen career paths. We dedicate significant time to this for staff every Thursday through an earlier closing to students so that staff can work in subject teams or within their own wider development that is personal to them, for national qualifications for instance. Collaboration with others is at the heart of this.
