Job overview

NHS England funds the Internal Medicine Strategic Network (IMSN). We are in the early stages of building a skilled, multidisciplinary team to lead transformation across specialised services. This is a formative phase that offers the opportunity to help shape how the Strategic Network operates and delivers impact across Cardiac, Renal, and Vascular Operational Delivery Networks.

Main duties of the job

As a Transformation Support Manager, you will enable the design and delivery of improvement projects across Cardiac, Renal and Vascular pathways. Partnering with ODN Managers and clinical leaders, you will apply structured methodologies to turn strategy into measurable outcomes, ensuring projects are governed, evidenced and sustainable.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.

Essential criteria

1. Educated to masters level or equivalent experience in a role where quality improvement is key
2. Qualification in Service or Quality Improvement techniques or relevant experience
3. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
4. Project management training
5. Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of projects.
6. Experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with clinical and non-clinical staff, patients, and external partners.
7. Demonstrated ability to analyse data and produce comprehensive reports to inform decision-making.
8. Experience in training, coaching, and supporting staff in improvement projects and change management.
9. Familiarity with national guidelines and standards for healthcare projects.

Desirable criteria

10. Facilitation training.
11. Experience of working as part of a project team to deliver new models of care.
12. Experience of working across multiple organisations to deliver change.
13. Experience of coaching staff to deliver projects or changes.

Essential criteria

14. High level of emotional resilience to manage a demanding workload and handle sensitive issues.
15. Ability to manage stress effectively, especially in high-pressure situations.
16. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work environments.
17. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
18. Strong leadership skills to provide oversight, direction, and support to project teams.
19. Ability to work collaboratively within the network and with external stakeholders to achieve common goals.
20. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex issues and develop effective solutions.
21. Ability to make informed decisions that impact project success and stakeholder engagement.
22. Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues.
23. Understanding of the pressures facing the NHS.
24. Able to extract, analyse and present information – qualitative and quantitative.
25. Excellent up to date IT (Information Technology) skills including the use of Microsoft Teams, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Planner, social media for educational purposes & other web-based systems.

Technical & Analytical

Essential criteria

26. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation to inform decision-making and project improvements.
27. Strong IT skills, including the use of project management software and data management tools.
28. Experience in benchmarking and auditing services to identify areas for improvement.
29. Knowledge of financial management, including budget planning, forecasting, and reporting.

Essential criteria

30. Ability to work autonomously, liaise and coordinate the Management Team on a day-to-day basis and to take appropriate action as necessary.
31. Identify and adhere to best practice.
32. Responsible for own professional actions and have sufficient autonomy for the delivery of the role.
33. Able to interpret national and local guidance and to develop local policies to reflect these standards.
