About the Position
We currently have a vacancy for a Healthcare Support Worker Band 2 to Band 3 progression scheme. You will be based at Savernake Hospital 25 hours per week.
We cover six other sites that you will also be required to work at, so we require a full UK driving licence and that you have your own car.
We are looking for someone who is highly motivated as this role offers a progression scheme where you undertake the Care Certificate, which takes approximately 6 months to complete.
Under the delegation and supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner.
The Health Care Support Worker will work within the out‑patient department as part of a team supporting patients, clinicians and colleagues during outpatient consultations. They will provide the fundamentals of care to patients in the hospital to ensure high standards are maintained in a safe environment, including patient safety, and to make sure that the care experience is positive by treating all patients, family, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values and policies.
No duties are to be undertaken by the post holder unless they have received the correct training. All duties must be in accordance with the Band 2 skills matrix.
This role does not offer sponsorship. It requires you to have current right to work in the UK, which enables you to undertake the role without need of sponsorship. Accordingly, we regard that any application will not be considered if this requirement is not met. Given the current UK immigration requirements this role is not eligible for sponsorship, and it is not possible for the Trust to sponsor applicants for a visa for this role.
Responsibilities and Duties

* Collect specimens (routine bodily fluids only)
* Moving and handling
* Documentation including food & fluid charts and outcome sheets
* Environmental maintenance
* Performing care in line with risk assessments and care plans
* Ensure all clinical rooms are stocked up with appropriate clinical forms and patient information sheets
* Assist with the preparation of medical notes to facilitate the running of clinics
* Escort to other departments (except theatre)
* Instigate Emergency procedure
* Completion of accident / incident forms
* Promote person‑centered values and provide support for patients’ wellbeing and fulfillment
Achieve the desirable requirements in the training and education section of the person specification within the agreed timeframe.
