Right now, we are looking for someone like you to join our enhanced substance misuse family safeguarding team in Birmingham who specialises in reducing the harms caused to affected others as a result of a family members substance misuse whilst improving family functioning to reduce family breakdown. Aquarius work with families and young people across a range of home and community settings supporting parents to build insight into the impact of substance misuse and supporting affected others whilst developing safety and risk management strategies to minimise risk to the wider family. Your challenge? To support and deliver a new family model within Birmingham working closely with substance misuse treatment providers and Childrens Health and Social Care. You will deliver specialist interventions as part of our intensive family support programme exploring risk factors such as substance use, supporting affected adults such as Kinship carers, supporting mental health and reducing parental/family conflict. This will be delivered through 1:1 support, 5 step focused sessions, education groups, family support groups; and accredited parenting programmes including M-PACT. Applicants must be committed to attending training for parent training programmes, as well as contributing to the delivery of hidden harm and FASD training to professionals across Birmingham. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to help develop this service and expand the family support options to support complex families in Birmingham with the aim of improving outcomes for all family members affected by parental substance misuse. An energetic and confident self-starter, you will need a passion for working with families supported by a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you will have experience of liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals. You will also have experience of engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.
