What You’ll Be Doing
Slough Borough Council continues to make important progress on its improvement journey, with a renewed focus on strong governance, effective decision making and high quality democratic support. As part of this, we are creating a new Local Democracy Manager role to strengthen the delivery of democratic services and scrutiny, and to ensure the Council’s decision making arrangements are robust, transparent and well supported.
This is a key operational management post within Democratic Services, reporting to the Head of Democratic Services. The role will lead and manage a small professional team and take day to day responsibility for the effective operation of committee, scrutiny and wider democratic processes. You will provide high quality procedural and constitutional advice to councillors, senior officers and colleagues, helping to ensure decisions are taken lawfully, efficiently and with confidence.
We are looking for an experienced democratic services professional with strong leadership skills, sound judgement and a commitment to public service, good governance and democratic accountability, who is motivated to make a meaningful contribution to Slough Borough Council’s continued improvement and future success.

Additional Information
Annual increments, where applicable, are usually payable on 1st April each year, subject to six months service in the post, until the maximum spinal column point of the level has been reached. The payment of annual increments is not automatic and is subject to satisfactory performance as assessed by your director.
