Finance Officer Threshold - Skainos Centre Belfast Job Details Job Title: Finance Officer Reports To: Assistant Accountant Salary: £28,000 - £32,000 Location: Skainos Centre Belfast (Hybrid - 3 days office, 2 days WFH) Hours: 37.5 hours per week About Threshold Threshold is a local regional charity committed to enabling individuals with disability or recovering from mental illness to live full, independent lives within the community. The role includes a range of administration and financial tasks to ensure that all income and expenditure is captured on our accounting system and reconciled. You will assist the Assistant Accountant, Head of Finance and Director of Finance in the requirements for the finance team and be responsible for training and supporting Finance Assistants in their duties. You will also support our services teams with ordering supplies and handling general queries. Key Duties and Responsibilities Accounts Payable Duties Posting of purchase ledger invoices/credits including matching with purchase orders and following approval steps Preparing and processing supplier payments Sending supplier statements Query resolution, identify and resolve discrepancies Supplier account reconciliations Accounts Receivable Duties Managing the invoicing process, from creation to distribution Ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, reflecting services provided Sending reminders for overdue payments and communicating with customers regarding outstanding balances Follow ups with Trusts on a weekly basis Efficiently monitoring and collecting and reconciling customer payments Regularly reviewing accounts to identify and address late or missing payments Sending customer statements Finance Duties Support with Month-end and Year-end close processes including posting journal and control accounts reconciliation Managing and reconciling direct debits on customer accounts Posting the returns from our services cash card expenditure Checking, posting and processing staff expenses Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial files and records using spreadsheets and accounting software Handling both internal and external finance queries including providing financial information to relevant stakeholders Providing cover for the Finance and Payroll Officer Contribute to both the internal and external audit process Supporting the Assistant Accountant/Head of Finance and Director of Finance with production of relevant reports when required General Administrative Duties Acting as the Central office's front of house Dealing with incoming calls and queries Ordering supplies for offices and services Dealing with incoming post General Responsibilities Actively promote the organisational mission, values, aim and objectives, ensuring all Policies and Procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Practice are adhered to at all times Be a cultural carrier for Threshold Adhere and comply with all Threshold's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures including reporting and recording of all relevant incidents, contributing to the overall physical cleanliness and general condition of the office Report and record any matters, for example defects and/or accidents in relation to any issues in respect of Health & Safety immediately, for the attention of the designated person Act as a Deputy Fire Warden and/or First Aid Person if designated Actively promote a working environment where equality of opportunity, anti-discriminatory practice, individual rights and choice are promoted in accordance with Threshold's established Principles, Policies and Procedures The above summary of the main roles and responsibilities is not intended to be exhaustive. Person Specification Essential Criteria Qualifications & Experience: Demonstrable experience in a similar role within a medium to large sized organisation including: Processing Purchase and Sales Ledger invoices Preparing and posting journals Reconciliation of control accounts Working on computerised accounting system Intermediate level of competence using Microsoft suite with strong knowledge and abilities using Excel Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines GCSE's Maths and English Grade C or above (or equivalent) Competencies: Ability to demonstrate alignment with Threshold's core values: Communication and interpersonal skills (Empathy) Motivation and drive for excellence (Passion) Innovation and Creativity Integrity and Honesty Collaboration and Team work Desirable Criteria IATI/AAT qualification Experience in Payroll Experience with Xero Equal Opportunities Statement Threshold is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
