The Senior Credit Manager Role
This isn’t a maintenance role, it’s a chance to transform a credit function that’s ready for strong, decisive leadership. Reporting directly to the MD, you’ll manage and develop the underwriting team, implement robust credit processes, and personally handle complex cases across bridging, refurbishment, and ground-up development finance.
You’ll be the MD’s right hand in credit, bringing both strategic oversight and sleeves-rolled-up capability when required.
Senior Credit Manager Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor, and manage a team of underwriters, driving performance and accountability.
* Oversee credit risk strategy and ensure high-quality, timely credit decisions.
* Personally handle complex bridging, refurb, and ground-up development finance cases.
* Refine and implement credit policies and processes to ensure scalability and compliance.
* Collaborate with sales, underwriting, and legal to streamline loan completions.
* Analyse financial statements, commercial cases and property planning nuances
* Present cases to senior stakeholders and funding partners with authority and precision.
* Act as the "closer" on challenging deals, supporting the team during busy periods or absences.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience as a Senior Credit Manager or similar within bridging and development finance.
* Expertise in credit risk, underwriting, and complex property transactions (including refurb and ground-up).
* Strong understanding of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet) and commercial lending assessment.
* Knowledge of planning and building regulations (permitted development, building control) and conveyancing/legal processes.
* A natural leader—assertive, direct, and able to “crack the whip” when needed.
* Culturally aligned with a lean, entrepreneurial, high-energy environment.
Senior Credit Manager Package & Progression:
* Salary: £100k – £120k (DOE)
* Location: London (Hybrid)
