Technical Manager
Location: Scarborough (Office-Based)
Salary: £45,000£50,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Hours: MonThurs: 8:30am5:00pm | Fri: 8:30am2:30pm
Staffpower Group is partnering with a leading maritime organisation to recruit a Technical Manager to support and strengthen their expanding operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically skilled professionalideally with marine or vessel experienceto play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, safety, and compliance.
About the Role
As Technical Manager, youll work closely with the wider operations team to maintain technical integrity across the fleet, assist with audits, and support emergency preparedness. You'll also be a point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders including ship crews, engineers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
Support the DPA with up-to-date documentation for emergency response readiness
Act as Deputy Designated Person Ashore (DDPA)
Provide technical support to shore-based engineers and vessel crews
Deliver monthly technical fleet updates
Assist with internal audits and inspections on MOL vessels
Address and monitor audit non-conformities
Conduct vessel visits and shipyard inspections
Manage supplier and third-party service accounts
Attend client and regulatory meetings (Class, Flag, etc.)
Oversee daily technical management of the fleet
Administer the MARAD Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
Candidate Profile
Degree, diploma or equivalent in Marine or Mechanical Engineering (consideration given to those working toward qualification)
Minimum 3 years of experience in technical ship management or engineering, preferably in offshore wind, gas, or oil
Confident liaising with Class and Flag authorities to ensure compliance
Strong knowledge of marine systems (propulsion, HVAC, electrical)
Experience with Caterpillar engines (preferred)
Skilled in interpreting technical drawings for maintenance planning
Proven ability to conduct fair and insightful vessel inspections and engineer appraisals
Strong leadership skills with experience managing engineering teams and work scopes
