An average day as a Multi-Skilled MET Technician…
15. You will have the ability to carry out all panel beater repair work efficiently, on a full range of vehicles.
16. Ensure that all equipment used, to include jigs, fixtures and welding equipment is operated in accordance with define safety requirements.
17. Follow written instructions effectively from job cards and demonstrate knowledge of repairing or replacing bodywork panels of damaged vehicles this will include chassis and framework.
18. Continually checking vehicle repair work ensuring there are no defects including quarter panels, filler work, stripping a vehicle down and rebuilding it.
19. Ensuring body components are repaired and replaced to damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition and to Kitemark BS10125 and manufacturer’ standards.
20. You will remove and refit mechanical and electrical trims / panels / components on vehicles.
21. Ensuring that stripping and rebuilding work of all vehicles is carried out in a professional and correct manner and that final quality checks are undertaken in line with applicable standards.
22. Dismantling vehicles ready for the panel area.
23. Re-assembling the vehicle with new parts as required to pre-accident condition.
24. Stripping and fitting components, bodywork and trim elements.
25. Carry out all MET duties required within your remit.
26. Follow manufacturer repair methods to return vehicles to pre-accident condition
27. Carry out fault-finding and diagnostics.
28. Perform road testing (if applicable)
29. Check that all parts are ordered as per estimate, to ensure that the repair can be completed without delay, returning all unused parts to the parts department for credit.
30. Body prep & filler work
About you…
31. Relevant panel qualifications- IMI 3, NVQ 3, or ATA Panel Beater Accreditation desirable but not essential.
32. You will have experience in a similar Bodyshop environment.
33. You will have experience in stripping, refitting vehicles.
34. You will have strong time management and organisational skills.
35. You will have a working knowledge of H&S responsibilities.
