As a Befriender 'Out and About' Volunteer you will play an important role in the life of someone we support in Eastleigh/Southampton.
You will be a reliable companion who will help support them to attend activities they enjoy taking part in.
These activities might include attending a concert, going to the cinema, going for a walk, for coffee, visiting garden centres or going out on shopping trips, etc.
The person you'll be volunteering with has profound hearing loss, so we are looking for someone who has some knowledge of British Sign Language or is willing to learn.
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours a week but flexible
To ensure the safety of the people we support, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.

Furthermore, we provide specialist eye-care services to children and adults alike and assist people to find paid employment for the very first time.
