Paediatric Specialist Dietitian

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, hardworking dietitian with an interest in paediatrics to join our paediatric dietetic team. The post will be either a Band 5 development role or a Band 6 role depending on experience.
About the role
This position offers newly qualified dietitians or existing band 5 or 6 dietitians the chance to develop clinical skills across a variety of paediatric clinical areas, including nutrition support, allergy, gastroenterology, weight management, neonates and diabetes, in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Main duties
The post supports ward dietitians on paediatric wards, the neonatal unit, and provides face‑to‑face and telephone clinics on a weekly basis. Ongoing clinical support and supervision is provided by a clinical mentor to promote the advancement of your clinical skills and confidence.
The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills, be flexible, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork. An interest in working with children and young people is vital, alongside adaptable communication skills for differing age groups.
The post holder will also participate in student training and staff development programmes, contribute to the service audit programme, and support promotion events.
Job responsibilities
* Deliver specialist dietetic services to paediatric patients within Leighton Hospital and across Central Cheshire in collaboration with the paediatric Dietetic Team.
* Formulate, deliver, and monitor nutritional care plans for referred patients, including those with complex clinical conditions and diet therapy, across acute settings.
* Serve as a source of knowledge in paediatrics, contributing to the development of clinical guidelines, resources, and education packages.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* HCPC registered as a Dietitian.
* Post‑registration training in paediatric dietetic intervention.
Experience
* Clinical experience in NHS inpatient care.
* Clinical experience in outpatient dietetic provision.
* Clinical experience in paediatric service provision.
* Two years of post‑registration experience.
Skills
* Demonstrated communication skills with children and young adults.
* Proficiency in paediatric nutrition.
