Project Manager – Transmission & Distribution (Advisory Role)
Contract – Suffolk/Essex Region
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in National Grid projects to provide advisory and assurance support across a portfolio of transmission and distribution schemes in the Suffolk and Essex region.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual with in-depth knowledge of National Grid processes and procedures to step into an advisory capacity, supporting the development and performance of new and existing PMs, while ensuring the successful delivery of complex substation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide advisory support to new-start Project Managers, ensuring alignment with National Grid processes, programme requirements and contractual obligations.
* Participate in key contractor meetings, offering experienced second-opinion guidance on contractual responsibilities and risk.
* Conduct independent reviews of project scope, finance forecasts and emerging work packages, ensuring accuracy and identifying areas for proactive intervention.
* Support the translation of cross-sector PM experience into the National Grid environment, enabling newer PMs to succeed in delivery.
* Act as a trusted advisor to the delivery team, providing assurance, challenge and practical solutions drawn from prior National Grid experience.
Candidate Profile:
* Proven track record delivering transmission and distribution substation projects.
* Direct National Grid project experience is essential – applicants must have worked extensively with National Grid processes, systems and governance.
* Strong understanding of contractual and commercial management in a regulated environment.
* Confident communicator able to advise, influence and coach project managers from varied professional backgrounds.
* Ability to review programmes, contractual scopes and financial forecasts, providing clear recommendations.
Contract Details:
* Location: Suffolk/Essex region (with some flexibility).
* Duration: Long-term contract, with potential for extension.
* Rate: Competitive, aligned with experience.
