LincsOnline and Rutland and Stamford Mercury The Rutland and Stamford Mercury is Britain’s oldest newspaper - and we are looking for a first rate reporter to continue our success story. The successful candidate will have the talent and ambition to find stories that can lead our print and digital portfolios and be the kind of stories that people want to click on and spend time reading. The patch covers a large and diverse area including the beautiful market towns of Stamford, Bourne and Market Deeping, and the county of Rutland. In the last couple of years, we’ve joined forces with our sister titles in Lincolnshire to launch LincsOnline, a growing county-wide website that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to feed into, enabling their stories to reach the biggest audience possible. Knowledge of social media platforms, both traditional and emerging, is also a must. Our team is based in the newsroom in Stamford but there’s flexibility to work from home when needed. Journalism is not a 9-5 job - we cover meetings and events in the evening and run a weekend rota and this would be part of the role. We cover a large geographical area so a driving licence would be an advantage. This position is ideal for someone with journalism experience - but we can work with a rising star to help them through the training they need to become a senior reporter. The Rutland & Stamford Mercury and LincsOnline are part of Iliffe Media and as such, we offer a competitive salary, pension and other benefits from being part of an independent media company. If you like a challenge - and a job that is hard work but ultimately rewarding and where no two days are the same - then we want to hear from you. We’re looking to get someone into the role as soon as possible so applications will be reviewed as they arrive.
