The Role
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead our finance function. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll oversee financial operations, manage a small team (2–3 members), and play a key role in strategic planning and decision-making.
Hours
Full-time (37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday) – Part-time hours will be considered
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
· Reconcile bank statements and internal accounts
· Conduct reconciliations and journal preparation for year-end close
· Prepare annual financial statements
· Analyse income and expenditure, identifying trends and opportunities
· Submit VAT and corporation tax returns (HMRC compliance)
· Manage fixed asset registers and transactional accounting
· Prepare management accounts and assist with budgeting
· Liaise with external accountants and auditors
· Handle pensions and monthly payroll
· Maintain accounting systems (Sage 200, Sage 50 Payroll)
· Produce weekly/monthly sales and hours reports
· Present financial reports at senior management meetings
· Support cross-departmental collaboration
Team Leadership
· Manage attendance, holiday approvals, and return-to-work interviews
· Monitor work quality and set team priorities
· Identify training and development needs
· Provide cover during team absences
About You
· ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent experience
· Experience managing a small finance team and function
· Background in SMEs, ideally manufacturing/production
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modelling)
· Proficient in Sage 200, Sage 50 Payroll, and Microsoft Office
· Analytical, detail-oriented, and commercially aware
· Strong communication skills, especially with non-finance staff
· Self-driven, positive, and team-oriented
