Head of Indirect Tax

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Indirect Tax to join a fast‑paced and growing Financial Services organisation. This is a high‑impact role offering genuine autonomy and the chance to build, shape and lead the VAT function from the ground up.
The Role
As Head of Indirect Tax, you will take full ownership of the indirect tax agenda across the business, with a primary focus on VAT in the EMEA region, while also supporting other international jurisdictions as required. This is a hands‑on, standalone role initially, with clear scope to grow and develop the function over time.
Key responsibilities include:
* Establishing and leading the VAT function, including end‑to‑end compliance, reporting and governance
* Providing practical, commercial indirect tax advice to the business on new products, transactions and change initiatives
* Designing, owning and continuously improving VAT processes and controls
* Acting as the primary VAT subject matter expert for the organisation
* Managing indirect tax input into systems, process changes and transformation projects
* Supporting GST and US sales tax matters where relevant
* Working closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, Product and other internal stakeholders
* Liaising with external advisers and tax authorities as required
About You
This role will suit a senior indirect tax professional who enjoys being close to the detail while also operating strategically.
You will bring:
* Extensive Financial Services VAT experience (essential)
* Strong technical knowledge across EMEA VAT
* Ideally, exposure to GST and US sales tax
* A proven track record of owning, building and improving indirect tax processes
* A collaborative mindset with the confidence to influence senior stakeholders
* A practical, hands‑on approach and willingness to “get stuck in”
* Experience working in fast‑moving, complex environments
