The Opportunity A well-established 11–18 academy in Derbyshire is looking for an engaging and ambitious English Teacher to join its department from January 2026. This full-time, permanent position will involve teaching across Key Stages 3–5 (GCSE and A-Level) and contributing to the development of English provision across the school. About the School This academy caters to around 1,400 students (aged 11 to 18) with a vibrant Sixth Form programme. You’ll guide students in reading, writing, speaking and critical analysis, encouraging them to engage with texts in creative and meaningful ways. You’ll manage coursework, mentor students, and help shape departmental schemes of work, assessments and cross-curricular projects. You may also lead or support extra-curricular activities, such as creative writing clubs, poetry slams, debating, or book fairs, and coordinate student publications or community writing initiatives. Collaboration with other departments (e.g. humanities, media, drama) is encouraged to build cross-textual links and literacy across the school.
