Senior Accountant

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join a growing and well-regarded accountancy firm in Burton-on-Trent. You’ll work with a wide range of clients across multiple industries, preparing accounts, supporting advisory projects, and mentoring junior colleagues.
The Role
As Senior Accountant, you’ll take ownership of your own portfolio and play a key role in delivering a first-class service to clients. This is a varied role offering a great balance between hands-on accounting work, client interaction, and team support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
* Preparing corporation tax computations and VAT returns
* Preparing management accounts and assisting clients with financial planning
* Reviewing work prepared by junior staff and providing guidance and feedback
* Acting as a key point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships
* Liaising with HMRC and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines
* Supporting partners and managers with advisory and project-based work
* Identifying opportunities for added value and improvements in client processes
About You
You’ll be a technically strong, client-focused accountant who thrives in a collaborative and professional environment.
You will:
* Be ACCA or ACA qualified (or qualified by experience)
* Have at least 3–5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
* Possess strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
* Be confident working directly with clients and reviewing others’ work
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Be organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines
* Have experience using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
