Senior Structural Design Engineer
RPS is currently seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors including residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We aim to balance form and function while addressing sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from project concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines. We assist clients in harmonising design drivers through innovative engineering, architecture, and development services.
What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression as a Senior Structural Engineer within our industry-leading team, known for excellence across various sectors of the built environment.
Duties Include:
* Assist the Associate Director / Director in managing the structural engineering team
* Manage projects and project teams independently
* Take financial responsibility for your projects
* Prepare fee quotations and handle invoicing
* Manage staff and external consultants
* Develop the engineering and technical team
* Collaborate with senior stakeholders and clients
* Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repair schemes for issues from fires to foundation problems
Who we’re looking for: You should have a degree (or equivalent) in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally working towards or already achieving chartership with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent. You should:
* Be experienced in designing foundations, masonry, concrete (including detailing), steel, and timber structures to eurocodes
* Have experience in the residential market, including traditional and framed structures
* Possess market awareness, financial management skills, and client development abilities
* Be experienced in structural investigations for low-rise residential, medium-rise residential, and commercial properties
* Preferably have experience related to the ‘Building Safety Act’ investigations and reporting
* Be familiar with Tekla (Tekla Designer and Tedds) and ideally with AutoCAD/Revit
* Show leadership qualities to influence internally and externally
* Management experience is advantageous
* Be decisive, motivated, proactive, and innovative
