About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded G.A.P Trading Manager to join our Trading team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Buyer or Merchandiser who thrives in a fast-paced retail or wholesale environment and enjoys building strong supplier relationships to deliver value, growth and innovation.
Here's What You Can Expect to be Doing
You'll be responsible for managing multiple product categories, sourcing competitive ranges, negotiating effectively with suppliers and ensuring our offer remains relevant, profitable and first to market where possible.
* Managing the trading performance of multiple categories, maximising sales growth, margin and availability
* Building and sourcing strong, competitive product ranges, including first-to-market and exclusive opportunities
* Developing and delivering promotional and seasonal plans to drive profitable sales
* Managing price files, stock levels and accurate forecasting for key promotions
* Planning promotional calendars through negotiations with brands and suppliers
* Building strong supplier relationships to identify new opportunities and market trends
* Working closely with Trading colleagues and Stock Replenishment to maximise service levels
* Completing regular store visits and full product benchmarking to ensure our offer stays relevant
* Ensuring compliance with relevant UKCA, UL and EC legislation
A Few Things About You
* Proven experience in retail or wholesale buying, merchandising or a similar commercial role
* Proven experience managing your own ranges and delivering against financial targets
* Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to close deals confidently
* Although not essential, a commercial awareness and understanding of wholesale markets would be beneficial
* Strong analytical skills along with the confidence to make decisions and the ability to work to tight deadlines
* Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
* Energetic, enthusiastic and driven by results
* A strong team player with excellent communication skills
* Able to build effective working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
