About The Role
In your role as an Assistant Chef at HC-One, you’ll value one thing above all: kindness. It carries across every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist Care homes. Every person who works here understands that our Residents are people just like them with their own stories to tell. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.
As an Assistant Chef, your responsibilities will include cooking and serving nutritious, healthy meals that Residents love. You’ll support the First Chef, taking charge in their absence. Managing food stock, optimizing your budget, coaching colleagues, and supervising kitchen clean-up are also part of your role—all with Resident wellbeing as your priority.
HC-One is looking for an Assistant Chef with at least a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and a good understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Beyond qualifications, we value your positive energy, ability to get along with others, organization skills, and attention to detail in following recipes. Communicating with Residents and colleagues with kindness and consideration is essential.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to act on concerns. All staff must attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and be prepared to seek advice and escalate concerns when necessary.
