Job Overview
Florence House is a 5‑bedded Mother and Baby Unit providing high‑quality care for pregnant and postnatal women experiencing mental health difficulties. Babies are admitted with their mothers to build and maintain the mother/infant relationship.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high‑standard care to women and babies, supporting recovery through a calm and therapeutic approach.
* Integrate into a multidisciplinary team providing therapeutic and diverse interventions.
* Conduct thorough risk assessment, formulate safe and effective risk‑management plans, and maintain safeguarding knowledge.
* Participate in regular teaching, supervision, and learning opportunities.
* Complete the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course as a condition of employment.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Nursing registration with the NMC and an NMC PIN (or awaiting the PIN).
* Interest in perinatal mental health and ability to work with women experiencing mental health difficulties and children.
* Experience working within an acute setting is preferable.
* Strong clinical skills, risk assessment, safeguarding, and communication/interpersonal skills.
* Robust and resourceful, willing to work outside the comfort zone in a demanding environment.
Training & Induction
* Full induction programme and comprehensive preceptorship for newly qualified nurses.
