Your application should reflect your genuine experiences and qualifications to ensure authenticity and credibility</p><h3>Job overview</h3><p>The Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health is a large transgender health service based in Nottingham but is part of a wider Network that includes the East of England Service. The Network provides high quality assessment, referrals for treatments, case management and GP support.</p><p>Patients will receive a blended model of face to face and video consultation appointments with the clinics running 5 days a week, it is a busy working environment which requires high levels of confidentiality and person skills.</p><p>As one of the team you will undertake the provision and planning of assessment, care, and treatment for transgender patients, whilst having direct face to face and video work with patients. You will be fully supported by experienced transgender health professionals who will work with you to provide a seamless gender service and pathway.</p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><p>The post holder is responsible for SLT individual and group assessment, formulation and diagnosis, individual therapy and management, training, advice and a consultative/coaching approach within the Nottingham centre for Transgender Health (NCTH).</p><p>The post holder will provide SLT services, also known as voice change and voice exploration or voice and communication therapy for transgender and gender diverse people at NCTH and online.</p><p>The post holder will assess, treat and manage their own caseload as well as provide clinical support to others on speech and language therapy issues. The post holder will contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and adjustment of a care pathway for this user-focused service.</p><p>The post holder should have a service user-led ethos, with insight into developing collaborative and culturally sensitive care plans for trans and gender diverse service users.</p><p>The post holder will independently manage a complex caseload, with supervision from the Lead highly specialist SLT. The post holder will employ evidence-based practice (EBP), promoting this approach to all staff, volunteers and students. EBP includes the specialist skills of the practitioner, the evaluation and application of published peer-reviewed research and the service user perspective and culture.</p><h3>Working for our organisation</h3><p>#TeamNottsHC comprises over 11,000 dedicated colleagues who #MakeADifference every day. We invest significantly in this through our in-house occupational health and staff counselling services, supported by a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team.</p><p>The Trust is committed to reducing its carbon emissions, with a specialised Energy and Environmental team working to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, enhance our environmental performance, and achieve our net-zero commitment.</p><h3>Detailed job description and main responsibilities</h3><p>To provide Speech and Language Therapy services to transgender adults, to explore their voice and communication needs, as part of the Nottingham Centre for Transgender Health (NCTH).</p><p>To provide individual and group assessment, individual and group therapy and management, training, advice and liaison through a consultative and coaching approaches, as appropriate.</p><p>To work as part of the wider multi- disciplinary team providing a high quality, effective, accessible, person- centred services through tailored packages of care, training and mentoring.</p><p>Training and supervision on voice and communication exploration will be offered for you to develop skills and experience as described in the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists’ (RCSLT) Trans and Gender Diverse Competencies Framework.</p><p>Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more detailed description of responsibilities attached to the role.</p><p>Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.</p><p>You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.</p><h3>Person specification</h3><h3>Physical requirements</h3><ul><li>Excellent speech and hearing</li><li>Physical skills in line with MVA</li></ul><h3>Qualifications - Academic / Craft / Professional</h3><ul><li>Recognised SLT Degree/diploma</li><li>RCSLT and HCPC Registered or pending registration for final year SLT students</li></ul><h3>Training</h3><ul><li>Voice-related training (including workshops, CPD, student-placements etc)</li><li>Portfolio of relevant post qualification CPD</li><li>Knowledge of voice recording software</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Ability to engage in SLT interventions with adult service service-users</li><li>Trans voice and communication-related Experience</li><li>Experience of delivering Learning and development opportunities for others</li><li>Experience of working in a team and to discuss the benefits of teamwork</li></ul><h3>Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Theoretical knowledge of SLT trans voice and communication therapy delivery including the use of different approaches and multi-disciplinary working.</li><li>Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group)</li><li>Undergraduate Knowledge of different approaches to working with transgender and gender diverse individuals</li></ul><h3>Skills</h3><ul><li>Empathetic and psychologically minded</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills</li><li>Well organised</li><li>Good reasoning skills</li><li>Motivated and a motivator</li><li>Team builder and team member</li><li>Ability to manage own well-being with access to supervision to sustain this.</li><li>Can discuss issues involved in managing a caseload</li></ul><p><b>Additional Information</b></p><ul><li>We reserve the right to close the post early once we have received a sufficient number of applicants.</li><li>The Trust believes in treating everyone with dignity and respect and encourages applications from all sectors of the community.
