What we expect… (Essential Functions)
The primary role of the VDC Data Technician includes leveraging a combination of technologies to enable our project management and site teams to accurately track work in place during the construction process. BIM (Building Information Modeling) models and their meta data will be federated, and the elements will be divided into realistic, trackable segments by the VDC Data Technician. The models will then be conditioned with supplemental data (including but not limited to, project schedule data) to enable Gray site management to accurately execute 4D progress tracking. The subsequent information is visualized in Microsoft Power BI as interactive reports. The VDC Data Technician will create and maintain these Power BI reports for each project to which they are assigned, as well as help manage the hub that organizes all models and data within the progress tracking workflow. They will work closely with the Gray site and project teams to establish and implement progress tracking protocols.
The VDC Data Technician may also be tasked with modeling elements in Revit that may not exist in current design models (scope gap), which would be used in the 4D progress tracking workflow.
The VDC Data Technician will travel to job sites to provide on-location workflow/software training to Gray site personnel on an as-needed basis.
Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary by VDC Data Team management.
The VDC Data Technician role is a key position in the VDC group, focused on producing real-time tracking and productivity data throughout the lifecycle of multiple projects. Reports will be shared with Site and Project management teams and will be used to inform Gray teams on various metrics as a risk mitigation tool. Upon completion of a project, the historical data may be used for future estimating and analytical purposes. The VDC Data Technician works as part of the Gray teams, occasionally interacting with estimators, architects/engineers, as well as the VDC Coordination Team to facilitate collaboration and communication from preconstruction through the execution phase of their respective projects.
