AM Shift Manager
Location: North Curry, Somerset
Salary: £30, – £35, per annum (DOE)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 05:30 – 14:00
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
We are recruiting for an experienced AM Shift Manager to oversee operations within a busy food manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role focused on safety, quality, people management, and ensuring smooth daily production.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Health & Safety:
• Taking full responsibility for Health & Safety standards across the production area during your shift
• Leading by example and ensuring all tasks follow site Health & Safety procedures
• Ensuring both staff and contractors comply with site regulations
• Completing accident investigations, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions
Quality:
• Taking full accountability for product quality and compliance with internal quality systems
• Maintaining exceptionally high hygiene and microbiological standards across the department
• Ensuring all finished goods meet required specifications
Customer Service:
• Working closely with the leadership team to achieve % service levels
• Ensuring production plans are met daily and communicating any shortages
People Management:
• Managing all shift-related HR responsibilities including attendance, appraisals, investigations and grievances
• Driving training, coaching, and skill development within the team
• Leading, motivating, and supporting staff to create a proactive and engaged team culture
Teamwork:
• Collaborating with other managers to support overall site performance
• Communicating effectively with management and supporting other departments when needed
Problem Solving:
• Developing and encouraging strong problem-solving skills within the team
• Identifying root causes quickly and ensuring fast, effective resolutions
What We’re Looking For:
• Proven experience as a Manufacturing Manager or Shift Manager within an FMCG environment
• Previous high-risk/high-care food production experience is essential
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Understanding of Food Safety, Health & Safety legislation, and best-practice manufacturing
• BRC and retailer audit experience (desirable)
• Good communication skills, numeracy, and understanding of cost drivers
