Role Overview
As a Senior Trader – Tenders & Negotiation, you will support the Commercial Performance Director in developing and delivering a comprehensive end‑to‑end commercial capability strategy. The role provides day‑to‑day tactical support for negotiation programmes, the management of internal and Own Brand tender processes, and the oversight of Joint Business Planning (JBP) frameworks. It ensures that trading teams across Supermarkets, Myton, Online, and Convenience are equipped with the necessary commodity tools and guidance required for negotiation excellence, margin growth, and GSCOP compliance.
Responsibilities
* Provide direct support to the Commercial Performance Director in implementing key projects by ensuring plans, tender requirements, and JBP frameworks are clearly communicated to trading teams.
* Act as the primary point of contact for trading teams to resolve queries regarding commodity tools, tender timelines, and the JBP process.
* Assist in the day‑to‑day coordination and management of external tender partners to ensure alignment with business objectives and project milestones.
* Support the evaluation process to ensure learnings from tender rounds, negotiations, and external partner engagements are applied to future activity.
* Review internal ways of working to identify and implement simpler, more efficient processes within the tender cycle, JBP framework, and commodity reporting.
* Embed a continuous learning culture by capturing and reporting on colleague feedback regarding commercial tools, tender processes, and the effectiveness of external partner interactions.
Qualifications
* Knowledge – Solid understanding of the Commercial function, GSCOP regulations, Own Brand and internal tender processes, and JBP frameworks.
* Skills – Strong organisational and administrative capabilities; proficiency in project support, tender partner coordination, JBP tracking, and data reporting; commercial acumen with ability to understand buying terms, tender evaluation criteria, JBP performance metrics, and drivers of commercial margin.
* Experience – Experience in a retail commercial, procurement, or project support environment; proven track record of supporting large‑scale administrative cycles or managing third‑party project partners.
