Mechanical Estimator - Building Services (Hybrid Working)
Location: Middlesbrough
The Opportunity
My client is a well-established and growing engineering business delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical, and renewable solutions across commercial and industrial sectors. Their services span full project lifecycles, from design and installation through to maintenance. Covering industries such as energy, utilities, oil & gas, and commercial property.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their team. This is a key role responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of mechanical projects.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical projects including HVAC, pipework, and industrial systems
Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
Conduct take-offs and produce Bills of Quantities
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions
Support bid submissions and tender presentations
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams
Maintain strong knowledge of market rates, materials, and labour costs
Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within building services or industrial sectors
Strong understanding of mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC, pipework, pumps, heat systems)
Experience working on commercial and/or industrial projects
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Commercial awareness and strong numerical skills
Proficiency in estimating software and Excel
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Salary & Benefits
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 (BOE)
Bonus: Discretionary performance-related bonus
Holiday: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
Pension: 4-6% employer contribution
Working Pattern: Hybrid working
