Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are currently recruiting a resilient, nurturing and dedicated Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in a specialist SEN school in the Wigan area The successful candidate will support a child with SEMH needs, helping them engage in learning, regulate emotions, and feel safe and supported in the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
2. Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
3. Support access to learning both in and out of the classroom
4. Build a trusting and professional relationship with the pupil
5. Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and pastoral team
6. Contribute to personalised support plans and progress tracking
About You:
7. Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or behavioural challenges
8. Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
9. Able to de-escalate situations and use positive behaviour strategies
10. Strong communication and teamwork skills
11. Relevant TA qualification or experience working in a specialist setting (desirable)
12. Team Teach or similar behaviour training (desirable - training can be provided)
