Clinical Training Officer x 1 Special Operations Response Teams
Do you have a passion for specialist education?
Due to ongoing departmental developments, the National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is looking to recruit a Clinical Training Officer attached to the Special Operations Response Teams (SORT). The successful applicant will operate primarily under the supervision of the NRRD Training Centre in Newbridge, with a national remit requiring nationwide travel.
The Department aims to provide a comprehensive and effective organisation-wide structure for risk management, emergency planning, business continuity, infrastructure security, community resilience, strategic operations, and specialised operational response. The NRRD team also manages and trains the three full-time Specialist Operations Response Teams.
Reporting to the Training & Development Manager (SORT), you will assist in delivering all aspects of specialist training and exercises within NRRD and SORT.
The ideal candidate will be a Paramedic registered with the Health Care Professions Council, with experience supporting adult education development, implementation, and evaluation. An appropriate teaching qualification (Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent) is required, along with a proven track record of developing and delivering healthcare education curricula.
Knowledge of our specialist response capabilities and experience in ambulance education within Special Operations Response Teams or CBRN responder teams would be advantageous.
You will represent the Scottish Ambulance Service on specialist groups, collaborate with emergency services and Scottish Government, and develop training opportunities with key stakeholders.
As incidents can occur at any time, you may be required to respond as a Tactical Advisor or in a leadership role. Participation in a formal on-call rota as part of the NRRD leadership team is expected.
This role involves handling sensitive information, requiring Security Clearance (SC).
For informal enquiries, contact Stephen Welsh, Training & Development Manager (SORT), at 07975780792 or Stephen.welsh@nhs.scot.
Note: Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check. If classified as a "regulated role," appointment will be subject to joining the PVG Scheme. Changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
