About Us:
At Continental Textiles, we're on an exciting journey of growth, and we're looking for a dynamic Senior Assistant Buyer or Junior Buyer to join our creative and fast-paced team. You'll work across multiple product categories, partnering with leading store groups and supporting our brands, South Beach and Loungeable. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop their buying career and make a meaningful impact on our expanding business.
The Role:
As a Junior Buyer, you'll play a key role in supporting our buying team to drive product development and category growth. Reporting directly to the Senior Buyer, you'll collaborate with design, garment tech, suppliers, and other key stakeholders to deliver outstanding products and strong margins.
Key responsibilities include:
* Range Development:
Assist in building and developing ranges, working closely with the Senior Buyer to ensure product offerings meet customer needs and brand standards.
* Product Strategy:
Negotiate cost prices and manage the costing process for your own ranges to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
* Sales Insight:
Work with the concessions team to select ranges, adapt to sales data, and quickly respond to market trends.
* Trading & Planning:
Contribute to weekly trade meetings, offering insights on department performance and proposing strategies for upcoming ranges and opportunities.
* Team Leadership:
Support and develop junior team members, helping to nurture a collaborative and productive environment.
* Supplier Relationships:
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring clear and efficient communication.
About You:
We're looking for someone with a creative ability to develop product and a keen eye for commercial opportunity.
You should be proactive, adaptable, and ready to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you'll bring the following:
* 2-4 years' experience in a buying role, preferably with a retail background.
* Prior experience in womenswear clothing is a plus.
* Strong commercial acumen and a customer-focused mindset.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with retail costing.
* Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure.
* Strong communication skills and an ability to build solid relationships with internal teams and external partners.
* A creative ability and mindset with a drive to develop products that contribute to category growth.
* A self-starter who is comfortable working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
